Frequently Asked Questions
Tree removal in our service area typically ranges from $400 for a small backyard tree to $4,000+ for a large pine or eucalypt with restricted access. The big drivers are tree size, distance from buildings and power lines, whether the trunk can be felled in one piece or has to be lowered in sections, and stump removal. We do free on-site quotes — Charlie or Dylan will come out and price the job before any work starts.
It depends on your local council, the species, and whether the tree is protected (Significant Tree Register, native vegetation overlay, or heritage listing). Most non-significant residential trees on private land in Latrobe City and Wellington Shire don't require a permit, but South Gippsland and Bass Coast have stricter native vegetation rules. We can prepare an arborist report for council if a permit is required.
Most single-tree residential jobs are completed in a single day — from arrival to a tidied site with mulched debris removed. Larger or more complex jobs (multiple trees, restricted crane access, power line proximity) may take two to three days. Storm-damage emergency work is often turned around within hours.
Yes — stump grinding is offered as part of the tree removal quote. We grind to 200mm-300mm below ground level so you can re-turf or replant. If you only need the stump done (the tree is already gone), we offer stand-alone stump grinding too.
Call us straight away on 1800 GO TREES. We carry the equipment for hazardous tree work — truck-mounted EWP access, crane support where needed, and the experience to drop dangerous limbs without damage to property. After-hours and storm emergencies are part of what we do.
Yes. We carry $20M public liability and full workers compensation. We will provide a Certificate of Currency on request, which most strata managers and commercial clients require before approving the job.
All our climbing and ground crew hold the relevant arboriculture qualifications (Cert III in Arboriculture for climbing arborists, plus current chainsaw, EWP, and chipper tickets). For court-required arborist reports and tree-protection management plans we have AQF Level 5 consulting arborists on staff.
Yes — site cleanup is included in every quote unless you specifically ask us to leave the timber for firewood. We chip all small material on-site and remove it. Large logs are removed unless you want them retained.
