Geelong is two jobs in one. There is the industrial side — the port, the plants, the warehousing along the ring road — where access work is about height, hardstand and getting in and out around production. Then there is everything near the water, where the constraint is exposure.

How we keep the trucks right

This is the bigger job, and the one you never see: keeping every truck right in the first place. Every machine we own is on a strict schedule, and most of that work is done in-house by our own people.

Full safety inspection. Every cover comes off — pins, bushes, hoses, legs, tyres and wheel bearings all checked.

Under our own roof: two diesel mechanics · a full-time auto electrician (30+ years’ combined experience) · a spray painter & fibreglass repairs · hydraulic specialists 5 minutes down the road · structural crack-testers on site by 7am when we need them · our certifying engineer.

We keep the trucks clean and painted for a reason. Cutters tend to favour the passenger side of the truck when they’re working, and over time that puts most of the stress through one side of the machine — which is exactly where cracks can start to appear. A clean, painted truck is one you can actually read, so a hairline crack shows up the day it starts rather than months later. Between that and the three-month inspection, we stay on top of anything before it ever becomes your problem.

Is the machine suitable for work close to the coast?

Yes, and the maintenance is the reason we are comfortable saying so. Every tower is serviced and certified in our own workshop on a fixed schedule, and the insulated machines are electrically tested every six months. Salt air finds equipment that is not looked after; ours is checked before it goes out and when it comes back.

Can you deliver to the Bellarine and Surf Coast, not just Geelong?
